Wrexham could only claim a draw on Tuesday night, playing out a 0-0 stalemate against Huddersfield Town at the STōK Cae Ras.

Wrexham were back at home after a very successful away trip over the weekend.

Phil Parkinson claimed all three points with a 1-0 win at Rotherham United and was looking for a big home win.

Wrexham had been flawless at home before Tuesday’s game, winning five from five to start the League One season.

That run is now over though as Wrexham played out a 0-0 draw with Huddersfield Town, leaving fans and players alike frustrated.

This just wasn’t Wrexham’s night but four points from two tough Yorkshire encounters is no great shame for Wrexham.

Wrexham fans vote for Man of the Match

Wrexham will be delighted with another clean sheet and there were some individual performances to savour.

Fans were invited to vote for the Man of the Match against Huddersfield and there was a clear winner.

Wing back Ryan Barnett was voted as the Man of the Match having yet again impressed up the right flank.

Barnett tallied one shot on target, one key pass, four completed crosses two tackles and one blocked shot.

This is a third League One Man of the Match award for Barnett in a row; Wrexham only do this for home games and Modou Faal won it for the EFL Trophy clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Barnett’s exceptional display against Northampton Town was also rewarded with the Man of the Match award.

Going back to the 2-1 win over Crawley Town in September, Barnett was also named Man of the Match then.

If that doesn’t sum up the form Barnett is in right now, we don’t know what does.

The former Solihull Moors man is absolutely flying at the moment and few would back against more Man of the Match awards to come.

Barnett contract is such a relief

Former Shrewsbury Town man Barnett has no doubt attracted admiring glances during his impressive League One campaign.

Mangers love flexibility and Barnett provides that thanks to his ability to play as a wing back or winger.

Recruitment teams inside Championship clubs are no doubt looking at Barnett as a player who can allow tactical flexibility from a back three to a back four.

Wrexham are ahead of the curve though and inserted a one-year extension clause into Barnett’s deal when he joined from Solihull Moors.

That means that Barnett is under contract until 2026 and not 2025 as first feared.

Wrexham may have been given some tempting offers in January had Barnett been inside the final stages of his deal, but his secure means Wrexham can not only relax over his future but also enjoy his scintillating displays.
