Wrexham fans are now looking forward to Ryan Hardie’s debut after seeing the Scottish striker sign on Monday evening.

Wrexham signed two strikers in the January transfer window, but Phil Parkinson remains in the hunt for attacking options.

Monday saw Wrexham confirm the signing of Ryan Hardie from Plymouth Argyle, handing Parkinson a new forward ahead of the new Championship season.

Hardie finalised his £700,000 move to Wrexham, penning a three-year deal in the process.

Hardie hit 10 Championship goals last season but wasn’t able to prevent Argyle from suffering relegation.

Now back in the Championship thanks to a relegation release clause, Hardie will look to hit the ground running for Wrexham.

Ryan Hardie on Wrexham initiation song

Wrexham fans will certainly give Hardie a warm welcome, and his new teammates will follow suit.

This Wrexham dressing room has been the backbone behind this rise through the leagues, with Parkinson building a brilliant culture at the STōK Cae Ras.

As is the case with any new signing, Hardie will be expected to perform an initiation song – but the striker would rather avoid that situation.

Speaking on Wrexham’s official YouTube channel, Hardie admitted that initiation songs are a ‘tender subject’ as he has still yet to perform one in his career.

Hardie has played for six different clubs in his career but has remarkably avoided performing a song in front of his teammates.

Hardie suggested that he may pay a ‘hefty fine’ instead of performing a song, though you can be sure that Wrexham players would rather hear him sing – no matter how bad he sounds!

“This is a tender subject because I’ve never done one,” said Hardie when asked to share his initiation song.

“At any previous club, I’ve never done one, I’ve paid the fine, so I’m either going to have to see how much the hefty fine is, or it could be a first!

“I don’t know, I don’t listen to much music so I’ll need to get revising,” he added.

Ryan Hardie has a couple of familiar faces to lean on at Wrexham

Hardie isn’t walking into a completely new dressing room at Wrexham, as two of his former teammates will be there to greet him.

Goalkeeper Callum Burton and defender Dan Scarr both joined Wrexham last summer and previously played with Hardie at Plymouth Argyle.

The Pilgrims released Burton before Wayne Rooney sanctioned Scarr’s move to Wrexham.

The pair will certainly make Hardie feel welcome and ease his transition as he settles in at the STōK Cae Ras.

Parkinson has largely done a great job of ensuring a large number of his signings already know certain figures in the Wrexham dressing room.

George Dobson reunited with Elliot Lee, Eoghan O’Connell and Ollie Palmer, while Lewis Brunt and Sebastian Revan joined last summer after emerging in the Aston Villa ranks together.

That will not be an accident and Parkinson will hope that Hardie settles in quickly – whether he performs a song or not.
