Wrexham fans were delighted to see Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac at the Racecourse Ground this weekend despite losing to West Brom, and the pair were spotted doing something very interesting after the game.

Things aren’t quite going to plan on the pitch for the Wrexham fairytale right now, with two defeats from two in the league.

In fairness, the Red Dragons have suffered narrow defeats at the hands of recently relegated Southampton and a strong West Brom team, but alarm bells could well be ringing for some fans.

Still, it doesn’t look like Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds are showing any signs of panic just yet, with the pair casually getting to work on the next season of Welcome to Wrexham this weekend.

What Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds were spotted doing after West Brom game

Rob and Ryan will have learned a lot from the West Brom defeat, including the fact that they still need to invest pretty heavily in the Wrexham squad if they are to be competitive at this level.

You might have expected them to be in the dressing room after the game giving a rallying speech to the players, or sat up in the boardroom nervously plotting their next mega-money signing. But no, the Wrexham owners instead took a leisurely stroll across the Racecourse Ground pitch.

In the background of Lewis O’Brien’s post-match interview, eagle-eyed fans spotted an appearance from Rob and Ryan (at around two minutes in on the clip below), with the superstar duo followed very closely by a team of camera operators and sound technicians.

Clearly, they already have ideas for Welcome to Wrexham season 5 in the back of their minds, and what better way to gather some footage than to film direct from the venue of the Red Dragons’ long-awaited return to the second tier?

Will Welcome to Wrexham season 5 have a happy ending?

It may not have been a triumphant return to league action for Wrexham’s historic venue this weekend, but that doesn’t mean this season won’t be a success.

While some fans will be dreaming of another promotion push, and pundits will point to the massive spending carried out this summer as a key factor, it’s worth remembering that Wrexham really just need to stay in the Championship this season and it would still be a huge sign of progress.

Four years ago, this team were stuck in the National League. They’re now rubbing shoulders with some of the best teams in England in the second tier, and it will take time to adjust to that.

Phil Parkinson has a big challenge ahead, and Rob and Ryan’s record-breaking spending won’t change that fact. But, we’re confident that by the time Welcome to Wrexham returns, the show will have some semblance of a happy ending after this long and exciting campaign. Just don’t expect any promotion party this year!
