Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac became the owners of Wrexham in 2021, but they have since welcomed outside investment in the club.
The Red Dragons set the North American duo back £2m in February 2021 – a fee that has certainly proven to be quite the bargain.
Wrexham have enjoyed much on-field success, ending a 15-year spell in the National League and climbing all the way up to the Championship for the first time since the competition was rebranded in the early 2000s.
While there is no denying the Dragons’ success on the pitch, the work that has been done behind the scenes to grow the club into a global brand has been remarkable.

Ryan Reynolds’ and Rob Mac’s stance on selling more of Wrexham
Their 2023/24 accounts – the latest available – show Wrexham posted a turnover of nearly £27m, which is thought to be a League Two record.
2024/25’s accounts won’t be released until early next year, but more success is predicted.
In the ongoing campaign, meanwhile, Wrexham are predicted to have a £50m revenue in the Championship.
Amid the Welsh outfit’s rise up the EFL, Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac have been looking at further investment.
In October 2024, the Allyn family took a minority stake in Wrexham. Eric Allyn said at the time: “For more than a century, our family has focused on building great companies, while also uplifting wonderful communities.
“Our decades-long efforts in the Syracuse region are similar to what Rob and Ryan have started in Wrexham. We view Red Dragon Ventures as a vehicle to invest in a world-class football club, and, importantly, in the welcoming community of Wrexham.”
The Allyn family’s net worth is said to be in excess of £1bn after they sold their company in 2015.
Now, after welcoming fresh investment last year, the Financial Times has reported this week that Wrexham are open to further outside investment in order to help fund the club’s next phase of growth.

Billionaires have already contacted Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac
It remains to be seen who could come on board as new investors to help Wrexham’s rise.
But their current owners are not expected to be short of potential suitors.
Club chief Humphrey Ker said in May that ‘dozens’ of billionaires have contacted Reynolds and Mac to invest in Wrexham.
He said: “I think it’s very possible [reaching the Premier League], but I think that if you know we build our training ground, and we build our stand and we renovate the stadium and we get ourselves up to like we’ve got a 20,000-seat modernish stadium that retains the charm, and we can make that jump.
“Then I think what happens is that Rob and Ryan go into their Rolodex and call up one of the dozens and dozens of people who’ve got in touch within the last four years and been like ‘hi I’m a multi, multi, multi billionaire, I want to join in on this with you’.
“They would stay on, remain in their roles, but we would have someone who could help because basically getting out of the Championship to the Premier League, you’re just lighting money.”
