Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney should now know one prediction made about Wrexham this season will come true.
Wrexham booked their place in the third tier of English football for the first time in well over a decade during the 2023/24 season.
But after winning two promotions in a row, a third seemed to be out of the question for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
Before a ball had been kicked, Wrexham were predicted to finish 19th in League One by Opta over the summer.
While that claim seemed slightly unfair, it was hard to see the Red Dragons continuing to dominate like they had in previous campaigns.
However, while games are certainly more challenging this term, Wrexham are more than holding their own in 2024/25.
In fact, they are still in with a chance of securing automatic promotion and could end Saturday one point off second if results go their way.

But while the top two and, at the very least, a play-off spot remains a possibility, their chances of finishing first are low.
Reynolds and McElhenney were told why Wrexham will not win League One in 2024/25 by journalist Richard Sutcliffe all the way back in September 2024.
He said at the time: “I thought they will be top-six. Top one’s going to be gone. I don’t see anybody but Birmingham.
“A friend of mine was reporting at Rotherham and the lad who got the third goal from Celtic, absolutely ran that midfield again and you think, he’s going to be like a cheat code this season in League One.
“Stansfield up front, Alfie May behind, 20 odd goals both in the last two seasons. So they are going to be away and gone.
“But second place, it could be one of those where second place is up for grabs.”
Wrexham League One title chances revealed
The prediction Birmingham would run away in the title race made by Sutcliffe has proven to be spot-on.
It’s an unfortunate situation for Wrexham fans who would have no doubt loved another trophy but Birmingham, as to be expected given the money spent a caliber of player they have, are dominating League One this term.
They are already seven points clear of Wycombe Wanderers with a game in hand and 11 above Wrexham.
Opta’s current predicted League One table gives the Blues a 97.14 percent chance of finishing first.
Meanwhile, Parkinson’s men have a 0.02 percent chance of lifting the title come the end of 2024/25.
However, though first place is all but gone, Birmingham could be about to do Wrexham a big favour in their quest for League One promotion.
