Wrexham are looking to make it three promotions in a row this season but now face their most difficult test to date.
Wrexham won promotion out of the National League for the first time in 15 years during the 2022/23 season.
The Red Dragons ended the campaign on 111 points to secure top spot ahead of old rivals, Notts County.
The following campaign saw Wrexham grab second place in League Two, earning them back-to-back promotions under Phil Parkinson.
Now, however, the Hollywood-owned club are in their toughest battle to date if they want to make it three in a row.
There is a lot more money involved in League One, as evident by the fact Birmingham City paid out £15m for Jay Stansfield in the summer transfer window.
Wrexham are largely holding their own, however, and have started to splash the cash themselves – breaking their transfer record for Sam Smith.
How Birmingham City can help Wrexham in League One promotion race
Wrexham face Northampton Town in a 12:30pm kick-off on Saturday afternoon after a week off.
The Welsh outfit go into the game sat on 55 points and four adrift of second place Wycombe Wanderers.
Automatic promotion remains on the cards but given how tight things are ad the surprising form of Wycombe this season, second place is by no means a guarantee for Wrexham.
In turn, they may be forced to settle for a play-off place but at this stage, even that is now 100 percent certain.
However, while Birmingham are going to go up as champions and have already made Wrexham drop five points this season, the Blues could be about to help their rivals in their quest for promotion.
Tom Brady’s club are in action at 3pm on Saturday, taking on Charlton Athletic who currently sit fifth in League One.
Charlton are only five points off Wrexham but a loss on Saturday while Parkinson and co. beat Northampton would go a long way to ensuring the North American-owned side will finish inside the top six this term.

While their team could do Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds a favour this weekend, Birmingham fans aren’t happy with Wrexham currently.
The two clubs have formed a rivalry this term due to their owner’s links and the fact they are both competing for the top two.
