Ryan Reynolds has embraced his role as Wrexham co-owner with open arms and could be set for a new rivalry very soon.

Along with Rob McElhenney, Ryan Reynolds took control of Wrexham back in February 2021.

Since then, the North American duo have taken the Red Dragons to dizzying new heights on and off the field.

Without a shadow of a doubt, though, the success Ryan and Rob have brought to the Racecourse Ground away from the pitch will have surprised even the most optimistic of fans.

Welcome to Wrexham‘ has been a major success on Disney+, bringing a worldwide audience to the town in Wales.

Meanwhile, their owner’s A-list profiles have attracted some big names to the ground in the last four and a bit years.

Ryan Reynolds could be clashing with Will Ferrell soon thanks to Wrexham and Leeds United

Will Ferrell paid a visit to Wrexham in 2023, even making an appearance in the player’s dressing room.

During said visit, the actor made some jokes about the club’s owners, asking players: “Do you guys like Ryan and Rob or not really? You can be honest.”

He added: “Rob is good. Ryan? Dodgy Canadian.”

Now, thanks to Wrexham’s continued rise and fantastic 2024/25 campaign so far, Reynolds and Ferrell, who have worked together on the big screen, could be going head-to-head in the Championship next season.

Right now, the Red Dragons are favourites to finish second in League One, which would secure automatic promotion to the second tier.

Meanwhile, it has been reported, as per Leeds Live, that Ferrell owns a significant share of Leeds United.

The Whites are pushing for promotion with four matches left to play, but given their history, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them falter once more and remain in the Championship for 2025/26.

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds will have at least one rival in Championship

Whether Leeds secure a place in the Premier League remains to be seen, but what is certain is that if Wrexham go up, they already have a rival waiting in the wings.

When this season began, there was a lot of talk around Wrexham and Birmingham, given Tom Brady’s involvement in the latter.

McElhenney, Reynolds and Brady have exchanged words – in a light-hearted manner, of course – during this season when their two teams have faced off.

Birmingham beat Wrexham 3-1 in the first fixture before earning a 1-1 draw in the last match played out.

Should the Welsh outfit indeed win promotion, they will no doubt be hoping to finally get one over on Brady’s club, who have already won the League One title.
