Wrexham fans have had a lot to say after some interesting news emerged this week.

Wrexham are back in League One action later this week, facing off with Bristol Rovers on Friday afternoon.

It’s a must-win fixture for Phil Parkinson’s side, who saw the gap between themselves and Wycombe Wanderers slashed last week.

Wrexham were six points clear of the Chairboys last Saturday, but after their game in hand against Huddersfield Town and the Red Dragons dropping points to Wigan Athletic, that gap has been reduced to just one.

There are four games of the season left to play, but right now, it’s the Welsh outfit who remain in the driver’s seat.

Wrexham are favourites to win promotion ahead of Wycombe, but that’s probably not too surprising to neutrals after some interesting news emerged.

Wrexham fans unhappy with agent fees

It emerged on April 14 that Wrexham spent £784,535 on agent fees between February 2nd, 2024, and February 3rd, 2025.

That sum was the second-most in League One, with only the recently relegated Huddersfield coughing up more.

Now, Wrexham fans have taken to social media to react to the news, with many suggesting it’s a bit much.

One fan wrote: “An absolutely ridiculous amount.”

A second added: “Not one to moan normally, however, I think we are getting ripped off!!!”

“Wrexham tax. If you really want my client it’s gonna cost ya. Got us over a barrel really. Pain in the —-,” a third stated.

Another claimed: “Jay Rodriguez’s agent has earned every single penny. The guy’s a magician (the agent, that is).”

While a fifth added: “You can see in the league table the results of money spent on this list … Almost all the teams with the highest agent fees are in the top 10 …”

Wrexham spending must increase next season

While spending such a high sum simply on agent fees is perhaps not what fans want to see, it is necessary if the club want to continue their rise.

As one fan mentioned above, the majority of the teams with the biggest agent fees are currently in and around the top 10 of League One.

Spending large sums doesn’t always equal success, just look at Manchester United, but it is more often than not something teams have to do in order to achieve greatness.

And with Wrexham likely to be plying their trade in the Championship come 2025/26, it’s clear that figure will have to increase in the coming 12 months.

Humphrey Ker knows Wrexham need to spend more on wages if they go up, and the same principle will apply to agent fees.
