Several players have been key to the journey for Wrexham through the English pyramid as the Welsh club achieved three consecutive promotions to the Championship.
Wrexham have invested heavily in their playing squad since Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac took over as owners of the club, and this has proved fruitful.
However, as they have climbed through the divisions, the level of quality has improved, and sadly this means that players who have been important have had to leave the club to make way for better players.
Sadly, this was the fate for one Wrexham great this summer after his contract expired, despite the fact that he was a favourite of Ryan Reynolds.

Steven Fletcher is set to retire after his Wrexham exit
It was believed that Steven Fletcher may be set to make a return to Hibernian after he left Wrexham this summer; however, the move never materialised.
Now, according to the Daily Record, the former Wrexham striker is set to retire from football after achieving promotion with Wrexham.
It is still understood that he is weighing up a move to join the club he began his career at before he opted to join Burnley in 2009, after he scored 52 goals in 189 appearances for the Scottish side.

The former Wolves and Sunderland man had thought about retiring from football after departing Dundee United two years ago, before going on to create history with Wrexham.
Ryan Reynolds’ view on Steven Fletcher
Despite Steven Fletcher becoming a favourite of Ryan Reynolds during his spell at the club due to his character and his impact on the pitch for the Welsh club, his contract was not extended for the Championship campaign.
The veteran star exited the club for free and has been contemplating whether he should retire; however, Reynolds made his thoughts clear on the striker.

Writing on Instagram, Reynolds said: “Words aren’t agile enough to capture what you’ve brought to Wrexham, the sport, and the lives of myself and this whole town. You aren’t a PART of greatness. You ARE greatness.
“I don’t really know what a co-chairman is supposed to do or say in these moments, and I don’t much care. I’m gonna miss you. I’ll miss your leadership and wit and the way you remind everyone – including me – that this is also FUN. Like the first day we met, I’m here for you any time and any place. Always.”
