Ryan Reynolds loves to crack a joke or two at the expense of his Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney, and there’s no better time to do that than on the latter’s birthday each year.
Naturally, with the pair both being heavily involved in comedy in their day jobs, we were always going to get our fair share of laughs when they joined forces to take over at Wrexham.
While the duo have helped the Red Dragons achieve huge success on the pitch, and now look on course for a third-successive promotion, they’ve still found plenty of time to have fun.
And, as is tradition, Ryan Reynolds went the extra mile to ensure Rob McElhenney had a nice birthday this year, with a special, personalised message for his friend.

Ryan Reynolds shares hilarious birthday message for Rob McElhenney
Taking to social media to share his latest birthday message, Reynolds leaned on the fact that he cut McElhenney from the Deadpool & Wolverine movie, after the latter had filmed a cameo for the Marvel project.
He said: “Robert, happy birthday! My god, another year, another trip around the old Keith Moon. And, uh… god, so many highs, and so many lows.
“Incredible highs with you obviously filming a cameo for the Deadpool film… and then, you know, incredible lows with you being cut out of the Deadpool film. Now, to make up for that, this year, we’ve inserted you into many of my other films, which are available at your local Blockbuster store.”
After an emotion song plays over clips of McElhenney crudely edited into films like Free Guy, Just Friends, and The Proposal, and of course, Green Lantern, Reynolds adds: “Yes, well, I love you and miss you. OK, bye. Oh, and happy birthday.”
Funnily enough, Reynolds found space for a Paul Mullin cameo in the movie. We still don’t quite know whether the decision to cut McElhenney was a filmmaking call, or one simply to wind up the Wrexham owner.

Rob and Ryan’s birthday traditions
This is not the first time Rob and Ryan have exchanged friendly blows over their birthdays. In fact, this was a rather tame effort from Reynolds in comparison to past efforts.
So far, we’ve seen McElhenney fly a blimp over the Racecourse Ground with Reynolds’ scarred Deadpool face on the side, as well as planning to build a park in Wrexham dedicated to Reynolds, with plenty of ridiculous features, of course.
Meanwhile, Reynolds has previously paid for a plaque dedicated to McElhenney, which he hung above the urinals in the Wrexham toilets.
We can’t wait to see what McElhenney’s next trick will be as he looks to get revenge.
