Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer’s records from the 2024/25 season have already been bettered by one player in just eight matches this term.

The 2024/25 campaign began with Ollie Palmer as one of the players leading the line for Wrexham.

Paul Mullin had injury issues over the previous summer, but he returned to the side shortly after the season began.

However, neither player was able to reach the heights fans had become accustomed to seeing from the club heroes.

Across all competitions last season, Palmer found the back of the net on three occasions.

Meanwhile, Mullin scored five and assisted one in 32 matches for Wrexham – records already broken by one ex-star.

Jack Marriott in great form for Reading

Another striker who played a role in Wrexham’s 2024/25 season was Jack Marriott.

However, along with Mullin, Palmer and Steven Fletcher, he was moved on in the most recent summer transfer window.

Marriott was sold to Reading, one of just three players for whom the Red Dragons netted a fee in the latest window.

Since returning to League One, the 31-year-old has been in excellent form for the Royals.

Reading most recently drew 1-1 with Exeter City, and Marriott scored their only goal of the game.

He’s now scored in a staggering five games in a row for his new side and already has six goals in eight matches this season.

Jack Marriott got unlucky at Wrexham

Marriott joined Reading from Fleetwood Town in January 2024 and had a slow start to life in North Wales.

However, he hit the ground running last season, scoring five in 10 League One games before suffering a long-term injury.

Marriott was unable to regain his starting berth after recovering early in 2025 and only netted one more goal last season.

Had he not suffered an injury blow, there’s a chance he could have kept his place in the eleven, reached double figures for the campaign, and maybe even been kept around in the Championship.
