Ryan Reynolds has opened up on being the co-owner of Wrexham, revealing the one thing that can distract him from the stresses of being a football club owner.

Since the Hollywood takeover, attention on Wrexham and its owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney has been huge.

The club has been shown on a global scale with more football fans worldwide now interested in the lower leagues in England.

The recent success of back-to-back promotions to League One has put a huge pressure and reputation on the club.

There is no guarantee that the journey will continue smoothly, but the owners will want to remain competitive.

With preparations well underway at the Racecourse for the coming season, Reynolds is set to return his focus to the action in North Wales.

The Hollywood actor has recently revealed the only thing that can stop him from obsessing over Wrexham.

Ryan Reynolds states only Deadpool can distract him from Wrexham

Since the Hollywood takeover, Reynolds and McElhenney have been ever-present supporting Phil Parkinson and the playing staff. They often go to North Wales to watch and support the Red Dragons in action when they can.

Reynolds has recently appeared on the BBC’s The One Show with co-star Hugh Jackman. The Hollywood owner talked about his latest Deadpool movie and his ownership of Wrexham.

Speaking to The One Show, Reynolds said: “My coping mechanisms as I’ve gotten older are not great.

“One time I checked how many steps I got through during a match and it was like nine-and-a-half thousand.

“I’m like a caged tiger, I live, breathe, eat and sleep Wrexham and the only thing that can derail from that is Deadpool because Deadpool swallows your whole life and that’s the only way to do it, to let it consume you, so I’m so happy to be back now.”

Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham obsession is a good sign for the future

The Wrexham fanbase knows too well about the consequences of ownership that don’t put the club first.

From day one of the takeover, the owners ensured they made promises to the fanbase that they were committed not only to the future but the culture and history that the club has been built on.

Past Wrexham ownership hasn’t always represented what’s best for the club with some putting the club’s future in danger with financial difficulties.

The future with the Hollywood owners looks a lot brighter and it is refreshing to see the interest and love that the owners have for the club.

In modern day football, it is rare to see owners so involved emotionally, and that is what makes the Wrexham journey special.

Both actors have built a close bond with the fanbase and community with a keen interest in stewarding its culture.

There is no guarantee of on-field success but the fans can expect the ownership to continue having their passion for the club and to see their desire to keep improving the club in the future.
