Ryan Reynolds has helped transform the fortunes of Wrexham along with his partner, Rob McElhenney, since assuming control of the Welsh club four years ago.

The Hollywood owners achieved history with Wrexham as they gained three straight promotions from the National League to the Championship.

Wrexham have now come across their first stumbling block, as they have struggled to adapt to life in the Championship, picking up four points in their opening five league fixtures.

While it may be expected that it has been nothing but highs for Wrexham under Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, he has warned a fellow Hollywood star about the ‘heartbreak’ one can suffer while owning a football club.

Ryan Reynolds warns Eva Longoria about ‘heartbreak’ as a football club owner

Eva Longoria became a joint owner in the Mexican football club, Club Necaxa, and she is now promoting the docuseries about her time as owner.

She is an investor in the club alongside both Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, as they look to bring similar success to Necaxa as they have with Wrexham.

However, Longoria has now revealed the advice she received from Ryan Reynolds before getting involved with the club.

Speaking on Good Morning America, she said: “They said prepare for heartbreak. Cause sports is so emotional, with all the ups and the downs. It is an emotional roller coaster.”

The heartbreak Ryan Reynolds was warning Eva Longoria about

While Wrexham have not suffered too much heartbreak as they manoeuvred their way through the English football pyramid with relative ease as they secured three consecutive promotions, there have been some downs since Reynolds and Mac have been in charge.

The first season of their ownership was not filled with success, as Wrexham suffered defeat in the semi-final of the National League play-offs, denying them promotion.

While they also suffered defeat in the FA Trophy final against Bromley in Wembley Stadium, with the heartbreak of losing the game being shown in the first season of the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ docuseries.
