Wrexham sporting director, Shaun Harvey has opened up about how the club identify and go on to sign players in the transfer window.
It has so far been a quiet transfer window for Wrexham which is yet to see them dip into the market this month.
In the past week, Phil Parkinson has opened up about how difficult it has been for his team to make signings.
There have been plenty of rumours linking players to The Racecourse. Even in the last week, there has been a surprising link to Macaulay Langstaff as a forward option.

It is safe to say that the Reds won’t rush into making any signings, such has been the great form they have found this season.
A recent report has suggested that they are currently the best home side in the whole of the EFL and Premier League. This just shows how good they have been in this campaign.
Now Shaun Harvey has explained the process which Wrexham go through in order to make signings in transfer windows.
Shaun Harvey on incoming transfers
The January transfer window is always one which is a struggle to find good value in as clubs as reluctant to sell.
This may be part of the reason why the Reds are yet to make a single signing in the winter window as of yet.
Now in an interview, Harvey has discussed with Leader Live how the Wrexham hierarchy reviews signings before making them.
He went on to discuss the first stage of buying players. On that, he said: “If we ring and ask about a player, the initial demand is probably even greater than the inflated demand everybody always makes when somebody rings to try and buy one of their players.
“We just apply a very simple value test. Does the signing of that player add value to the football club? If the answer to that question is yes, then we generally try and sign the player.”
Looking at players that the club have signed in recent years, it is clear that this process has been followed to a tee. Stars like Elliot Lee have come in and taken the club to a different level despite having little to no fee.

Even moving up the leagues, Harvey and the Reds look as if they want to maintain the values that brought them here.
Value has to be calculated by Wrexham
The question is, how to the hierarchy of the club work out whether or not a player is worth bringing in or not. This is something the club has certainly worked out, however.
On how a player’s value is worked out, Harvey continued on. He added: “The value is measured in many different ways; to immediately come in and play for the first team, to be there in 12 months time, to develop and sell for a transfer fee in the future.
“The test isn’t always the same and signing a player in January to potentially replace somebody who may leave in the summer is part of that process and we got it right in the National League. Not because we won the National League but because of where we are in League Two today. We could add specific players to strengthen what we had rather than wholesale change.”
It certainly did work in the National League as the majority of the current squad was signed in non-league. From Ben Tozer to Andy Cannon and even Paul Mullin, there have been excellent signings.
With all this being said by Harvey, fans can take comfort in the fact the window is continuing with no business yet. If the right player becomes available, the hierarchy at Wrexham will strike when necessary.
