The Owls are fighting back against their owner, Dejphon Chansiri, and Wrexham fans are expected to show their support for their upcoming opponents.
However, while the Dragons’ fanbase are behind Sheffield Wednesday, Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac’s club have received backlash this week, and a statement has now been issued.

Former Wrexham owners speak out ahead of Sheffield Wednesday
The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust released a message late on Thursday evening saying they were not permitted to bring banners into the Racecourse, “as the banners are considered to carry ‘political connotations’.”
Wrexham fans spoke out against their club after this message, and their former owners have now issued a statement.
Reynolds and Mac bought the Welsh side from the Wrexham Supporters Trust in February 2021.
Now, on Friday, the WST have asked the North America-backed side to change their stance on Wednesday fans being allowed to bring banners into the ground.
The full statement reads: “More than most, Wrexham supporters understand the devastating impact poor ownership can have on a football club’s survival. Just 14 years ago, our fans raised over £100,000 in a single day to save Wrexham from expulsion from the Football Conference, after years of mismanagement had brought us to our knees.
“Today, Sheffield Wednesday find themselves in a similar situation; a proud, historic club brought to the brink by its owner. This week, Wednesday fans sought permission from Wrexham AFC to display a banner calling for Dejphon Chansiri to sell their club.
“The Trust was disappointed to learn that this request has been refused, with the Club citing “political connotations” in the Owls supporters’ message. Given our history, and the solidarity shown to us in our darkest days, we believe this is the wrong decision.
“On behalf of our members, the wider Wrexham fanbase and Sheffield Wednesday supporters, we call on the Club to reconsider. Tomorrow should be an opportunity for fans of both sides to stand together – united in the belief that football clubs belong to their communities, not to owners who bring them to the brink of ruin.
“Wrexham’s success in recent years should never allow us to forget where we came from, or the importance of solidarity between supporters.”
Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust respond
The Owls’ Supporters Trust have now responded to the WST message via social media.
They wrote: “We thank the Wrexham Supporters Trust for their statement and for standing with us — support from the wider football community means a great deal.
“We hope the club ( @Wrexham_AFC ) will reconsider its position and allow us to bring banners into the stadium. #SWFC #EnoughIsEnough.”
At the time of writing, Wrexham are yet to publicly comment on the situation.
