Wrexham secured promotion to the Championship on Saturday evening, beating Charlton Athletic 3-0 at the STōK Cae Ras.

The journey under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds continues, with Wrexham taking another leap forward over the weekend.

As a brilliant League One campaign draws to a close, Wrexham have wrapped up promotion with one game to spare.

Wycombe Wanderers’ defeat to Leyton Orient handed Wrexham a golden chance to secure a spot in the Championship.

Phil Parkinson watched on as his side produced one of the performances of the season, blowing away Charlton Athletic in style.

Wrexham beat Charlton 3-0, sparking wild celebrations on the pitch as Parkinson made it three promotions in a row.

Steven Fletcher sends message to Wrexham fans

This fanbase has been through so much pain over the years, so seeing promotion-inspired pitch invasions three years in a row is truly remarkable.

Two-goal hero Sam Smith grabbed the headlines with his performance on Saturday, but everybody has played their part in this latest Wrexham promotion.

Striker Steven Fletcher is a perfect example of the unity in the Wrexham squad.

The Scot has played at the highest level but has been more than happy to take a super-sub role at Wrexham, with his career heading towards its conclusion.

The 38-year-old hasn’t moaned, hasn’t complained and has chipped in with vital goals to secure promotion.

Fletcher sits on eight goals in League One this season, despite only starting two league games all season.

The veteran striker’s impact cannot be overlooked and Fletcher has now taken to social media to reflect on Saturday’s incredible scenes.

‘Making history with this group,’ said Fletcher. ‘What an incredible few years loved every minute of it!!’ he added.

Steven Fletcher contract decision looms

Wrexham players flocked to show their appreciation for Fletcher, whilst fans begged him to stay for another year.

The former Sunderland striker is out of contract this summer and could leave Wrexham on a free transfer.

Fletcher has hinted at wanting to continue playing, rather than hang up his boots any time soon.

Given his impact this season, we think Wrexham will come up with an offer to keep Fletcher for another year.

Fletcher has played plenty of Championship games in his career, and we would back him to score goals at that level gain, should he stay at Wrexham.

Parkinson feels Fletcher is ‘almost unplayable’ off the bench and that kind of praise suggests a similar role awaits – if the veteran striker wants to stay put.
