Wrexham will have big decisions to make in attack this summer, and veteran forward Steven Fletcher is giving Phil Parkinson something to think about.
Wrexham may – and we don’t want to put the cart before the horse here – be just weeks away from being a Championship club.
Phil Parkinson will remain level-headed, but Wrexham’s 3-0 win over Burton Albion served as a major step towards promotion.
Wrexham are now six points ahead of Wycombe Wanderers in the race for automatic promotion, with just a handful of games to play.
It’s too early to truly begin planning for life in the Championship, but Parkinson may have some rough ideas of how he would like his squad to look if Wrexham can get over the line.
Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds will be ready to back Parkinson in that scenario, but decisions must be made on out-of-contract stars first.

Steven Fletcher on his Wrexham future
Striker Steven Fletcher headlines the list of Wrexham players who can leave Wrexham for free this summer.
The veteran forward penned a new one-year deal last summer, committing to stay at the STōK Cae Ras through his 38th birthday.
Anybody who thought Fletcher would struggle to make an impact at this level in the latter stage of his career has been proven wrong.
Fletcher has hit eight goals in 35 games this season, proving to be a real menace for Wrexham when coming off the bench.
Eoghan O’Connell has hailed Fletcher as ‘incredible’, and Wrexham will soon make a decision on whether to keep the Scottish striker for another year.
Fletcher has certainly earned the chance to stay at the STōK Cae Ras once again, and he has now commented on his future.
As quoted by BBC Sport, Fletcher hinted that he would like to continue playing, noting that he is still enjoying playing and making an impact.
Fletcher can’t imagine quitting when he is in such good form, effectively telling Wrexham that he would be open to at least another season.
“When you’re enjoying something so much and you still feel like you’re making an impact when you’re playing, I don’t see why you would want to stop,” said Fletcher.
Phil Parkinson on Steven Fletcher
Wrexham boss Parkinson is certainly a big fan of Fletcher, hence his key role when coming off the bench whilst the likes of Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer fail to make the matchday squad.
BBC Sport also quote Parkinson as saying that Fletcher brings ’so much’ to the Wrexham squad.
Parkinson noted that Fletcher wasn’t entirely sure about signing for Wrexham back in 2023 as he departed Dundee United.
Fletcher decided to join in the end, and Parkinson feels that he will look back on that decision fondly, believing that he striker has enjoyed a ‘real lift’ with his move to North Wales.
“He brings us so much,” said Parkinson. “He understands where he is in his career.
“His last year was at Dundee United and a club in a difficult situation. I think when he looks back he’ll be so pleased he didn’t finish his career then.
“I think he was fifty-fifty but he’s had a real lift from coming here. He’s enjoyed it and I’ve really enjoyed having him,” he added.
Wrexham may well look to move Mullin and Palmer on this summer, whilst a loan move for Modou Faal could be perfect for his development.
Fletcher saying put for the Championship season cannot be ruled out and may even look more and more likely with each goal in this promotion push.
