Wrexham are now closing in on what would be a historic third successive promotion. Here is the earliest it could happen.
No side in the history of the EFL has ever won three promotions in a row when starting in the National League or higher.
That doesn’t look set to stop Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham powerhouse from giving it their best shot, however.
The Red Dragons were handed a setback last week when they dropped two points against a Bristol Rovers side that had lost six in a row previously.
However, they were back to their best on Monday, with Wrexham beating Blackpool 2-1 to climb back inside the top two.
Wycombe Wanderers lost to Charlton Athletic on April 21 as well, handing Phil Parkinson and Co. a welcome boost.

When Wrexham promotion to Championship could be confirmed
There are now just two games of the normal season left to play for both Wrexham and Wycombe.
Right now, the Welsh outfit are boasting a two-point lead over their closest rivals.
| Team | Played | Won | Drawn | Lost | Goals For | Goals Against | Goal Difference | Points |
| 1. Birmingham City | 42 | 30 | 9 | 3 | 75 | 30 | 45 | 99 |
| 2. Wrexham | 44 | 25 | 11 | 8 | 62 | 34 | 28 | 86 |
| 3. Wycombe Wanderers | 44 | 24 | 12 | 8 | 69 | 41 | 28 | 84 |
That means, should Wrexham beat Charlton Athletic on Saturday, April 26th, and Wycombe drop points in their meeting with Leyton Orient, the Hollywood-owned club will have their promotion confirmed.
Interestingly, the Chairboys are playing the early kick-off that day, while the Red Dragons aren’t in action until 5:30pm UK time, meaning Parkinson’s men will already know if promotion is possible before they take to the field.

What if Wrexham don’t beat Charlton Athletic
Alternatively, should Wrexham draw with Charlton and Wycombe beat Orient, both teams will be on the same points going into the final day.
However, as Mike Dodds’ team have the same goal difference right now, they will move into second place with a win.
Should Wrexham draw and Wycombe also play out a stalemate, the former would still need to wait until the final day versus Lincoln City to confirm their promotion.
In the worst case, the Welsh club could lose on Saturday and Wycombe win to move back into second place.
However, they do have a very tough meeting with Stockport County on May 3 to play out so even defeat against Charlton is not the end of the world of Wrexham.
