Wrexham have been drawn against Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup fourth round. Here is how much prize money is up for grabs.

Phil Parkinson wanted a Premier League team in the upcoming round of the cup competition.

Wrexham are competing at this stage for the first time since the 1970s, and a top-tier side would certainly have been entertaining for fans.

However, the alternative is not too bad, though, with a meeting against Cardiff City now set to take place instead.

The duo are old rivals and fans will no doubt be looking forward to the fourth-round meeting, with a five-figure cash boost up for grabs.

Carabao Cup 2025/26 prize money

Wrexham would play in Europe if they are somehow able to go on and win the entire competition.

That does seem unlikely, but being drawn against a League One team should give them a good chance of, at the very least, making it to the quarter-finals.

If they were to beat Cardiff and then get a favourable draw in the quarters, there is every chance they could get as far as the semis.

Should that happen, Wrexham will net a decent sum from the 2025/26 Carabao Cup prize money.

So far, wins over Hull City, Preston North End and Reading have already earned the Dragons £23,000.

If they see off Cardiff, they will take home another £15,000 and have the chance to compete for a further £25,000 in the quarter-finals.

Last time Wrexham played Cardiff City

Wrexham have been stuck in the lower tiers of English football for many years, while Cardiff have previously enjoyed a run in the Premier League.

As a result, it has been some time since the two Welsh clubs went head-to-head in any competition.

The last meeting between Wrexham and Cardiff took place all the way back in March 2002.

Craig Faulconbridge and Hector Sam scored for the Red Dragons, but they still fell to defeat on the day.

Scott Young, Peter Thorne and Danny Gabbidon found the back of the net for Cardiff to hand them a 3-2 win.
