Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac have created the blueprint for US investors looking to buy EFL clubs.
In four and a half years, Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac have taken the Red Dragons from a struggling National League side to a Championship outfit.
Earlier in 2025, it was reported that Wrexham are now valued at £350m, a stark increase on the £2m paid by Rob and Ryan.
However, they are not the only major American celebrities to join the EFL in recent years.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac’s impact on US football investors
Tom Brady is invested in Birmingham City, who battled with Wrexham for League One promotion last season.
Elsewhere, musician Snoop Dogg is now co-owner of Swansea City after taking a minority stake in the Dragons’ Welsh rivals back in July.
More US-based individuals have become involved with English football teams in recent years, and some of the credit may need to go to Rob and Ryan for their Wrexham success.
Chris Mann, Head of Sporting Strategy & Insight at Sportsology Group, has been discussing US investment in football this week with ESPN.
When doing so, he highlighted the effect Reynolds and Mac have had.
He said: “There is the ‘halo effect’ that has happened because of Rob and Ryan at Wrexham.
“They are making a very good go of Wrexham in fairly unique circumstances and creating an entertainment product off the back of a small Welsh club.
“It’s been quite incongruous, but because it has happened, there is a sense that it can be replicated elsewhere. I’m not convinced it can, but when I speak to potential investors from the U.S., they reference Wrexham all the time.
“It’s not necessarily a driver for the real big-hitter investors or big private equity companies, but among the kind of wealthy individuals who maybe come from [an] entertainment background, it’s certainly a thing.”

Wrexham eye further investment
Since becoming co-owners, Reynolds and Mac have been working to strengthen their club with other investors.
The Allyn family, who are worth over £1bn, invested in Wrexham back in October 2024.
Meanwhile, reports earlier this year claimed that Reynolds and Mac want to sell a stake in the Championship outfit.
No further update on a new partner has been given since then, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see fresh investors announced in the coming years.
