Wrexham have got another signing through the doors, bringing Danny Ward back home after the goalkeeper left the club 13 years ago.
A lot has changed at Wrexham in the last 13 years. New signing Danny Ward returns to a club completely changed under the ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, as he becomes the club’s second signing of the summer.
Reports revealed how Ward was set to undergo a medical at Wrexham after a few weeks of reports linking him with a move to the Racecourse.
Now, the move is official and he becomes Phil Parkinson’s second signing of the summer, after Wrexham signed Ryan Hardie from Plymouth Argyle in June.

Danny Ward’s career stats – did he ever play for Wrexham?
Born in Wrexham, Ward came through the ranks at the club, but left without ever making an appearance for the club.
Despite that, Liverpool snapped him up in January 2013. The Reds paid £100,000 for his services and he went on to make three total appearances during a six-year stay the club, including two in the Premier League during the 2015/16 season.
He impressed during a loan spell with Huddersfield Town during the 2016/17 season, helping the club earn their unlikely promotion to the Premier League under David Wagner.
Then joining Leicester City in 2018, Ward made 52 total appearances with 26 of those coming in the Premier League in the 2022/23 campaign. Ward says it’s an honour to return to Wrexham, having signed a two-year contract.

What Wrexham fans are saying as club announces Danny Ward signing
It’s fair to say that Wrexham fans have mixed feelings about this one. Whilst an experienced player, and someone who no doubt has Wrexham close to his heart, fans haven’t been impressed with the little they’ve seen of him over the years.
That, and many feel like it’s unnecessary competition for current no.1 Arthur Okonkwo when there’s already Callum Burton as the no.2 choice goalkeeper.
“Lovely lad but not for me” posted one Wrexham supporter, as another added “This one makes no sense”.
This fan wrote: “Got my doubts but I hope it goes well for his sakes and he finds his confidence again. Welcome back Danny.”
One Wrexham fan highlighted the need for new players elsewhere on the pitch, saying: “He’ll bring the knowledge and experience but I expect Arthur to still be no.1. Burton may go on loan to help develop and so Ward will be backup for this year. OK signing but we need signings further up pitch.”
And a positive spin on the signing read: “Such a good signing. A lot of people hate on this guy but don’t watch full games. He’s really consistent and great. [Craig] Bellamy shouldn’t have dropped him from the Wales squad.”
Wrexham are going on a pre-season tour of Australia and New Zealand this summer, kicking off against Melbourne Victory on July 11th.
