Wrexham are not resting on their laurels of a third successive promotion, with planning already underway for next season.

Wrexham confirmed promotion to the Championship with a resounding 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic where goals from Ollie Rathbone and Sam Smith sealed a historic evening at the Racecourse Ground.

Phil Parkinson raved about Matty James for his performance against Charlton and in the end of season run in overall and the midfielder is set to be part of plans for next campaign.

Wrexham will visit Australia during pre-season with a clash against Melbourne Victory being lined up and it seems another country will also host The Red Dragons on their summer adventures.

Wrexham to visit New Zealand for pre season fixture

According to the New Zealand Herald, Wrexham are also set to visit New Zealand as part of their pre-season tour plans.

It is reported that their opponents will be either Auckland FC or Wellington Phoenix and make up one of three games on their tour to the southern hemisphere.

Auckland FC have enjoyed an excellent campaign having already won the Premiers’ Plate and have the chance to win the double with them being in contention to win the A-League Championship.

Wellington Phoenix have hosted David Beckham’s LA Galaxy in the past, whilst also clashing with English Premier League sides West Ham and Newcastle, Wrexham could be next on the list.

It is unclear whether Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney will accompany Parkinson’s side on the tour but Reynolds does have close links with New Zealand.

The Wrexham co-owner has previously visited the country and worked with famous Kiwi director Taika Waititi.

The Red Dragons have visited North America in their previous two pre-season campaigns where Shaun Harvey admitted some Wrexham mistakes.

However, to coincide with a new adventure in the Championship next season, it seems that the club are about to embark on a new journey in preparation for their next historic campaign.
