The 2025 summer transfer window will open up in a couple of weeks, and Wrexham are already being linked with plenty of names.

Tom Lawrence and Charlie Savage are liked by the club, with the former due to be available on a free transfer soon.

Tom Cairney is wanted by Wrexham as well, as the club eye players who can give them a fighting chance in the Championship.

Another big summer is expected at the Racecourse Ground, following on from the 2024/25 season when a total of 15 players were brought in.

And one of those stars has now opened up on his decision to sign for the Red Dragons.

Arthur Okonkwo opens up on Wrexham transfer

Arthur Okonkwo initially joined Wrexham on loan from Arsenal in the 2023/24 season.

However, his contract with the Gunners expired at the end of June 2024, making him a free agent.

Wrexham snapped the goalkeeper up, and he’s since gone on to enjoy another prolific campaign, with Max Cleworth dubbing Okonkwo ‘unbelievable’ after his showings across 2024/25.

Now, the player has opened up on why he was convinced to sign for the Dragons permanently, as per Leader Live.

He said: “It was definitely the right move and I’m extremely happy.

“When I spoke to the gaffer last summer before I joined, straight away I knew that this was the right move.

“The manager had a plan, he said he wanted to go and do it again, and I signed.

“I have belief in the manager and the decisions he’s made and the players he brought in.”
