The Wrexham Insider has learned of the club’s transfer interest in two midfielders, one of whom is out of contract soon.

The 2025 summer transfer window dates have been confirmed, with Wrexham able to sign players from June 1 to June 10 because of the Club World Cup.

The window then shuts briefly before reopening on June 16 and closes for the second and final time on September 1.

Wrexham have been told to make six to nine signings this summer after their promotion to the Championship.

And thanks to their impressive financial accounts and expected revenue, around £40m is available to spend.

Wrexham have genuine interest in Charlie Savage and Tom Lawrence

Wrexham have already been linked with experienced Premier League midfielder Tom Cairney in the last week.

The Wrexham Insider has now learned that the Welsh outfit have a genuine interest in bringing both Charlie Savage and Tom Lawrence to the club.

They are both players the club like a lot and have close ties to the town, with Lawrence born in Wrexham and Savage already a Wales international.

The latter is under contract with Reading until 2027, most recently scoring seven and assisting 13 in 51 matches across all competitions in 2024/25.

As for Lawrence, the former Manchester United academy star, who made one senior appearance for the Red Devils, is out of contract with Rangers next month.

Tom Lawrence and Charlie Savage wage

Jay Rodriguez is Wrexham’s highest earner right now, taking home £15,000-a-week following his winter move from Burnley.

However, now that they are in the Championship, the club’s wage bill is expected to quadruple.

Savage, as per Salary Sport, is taking home £2,400-per-week, or £124,800-a-year on his current deal with Reading.

Lawrence, meanwhile, is earning £22,000-per-week, or £1,144,000-per-year in Scotland, which would put him as Wrexham’s new highest earner if he is given a similar deal.
