Wrexham are gearing up to start the 2025-26 Championship season, and there will be plenty of attention on Phil Parkinson’s side.
Here we are, just days away from the start of the Championship campaign, and Wrexham will be part of it.
Three promotions in a row mean Wrexham are now just one step away from the Premier League.
Phil Parkinson has masterminded an incredible rise and will lead Wrexham into battle against Southampton to start the new season.
Fans were rightly excited about the Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds takeover back in 2021, but few would have expected Championship football in 2025.
This is a competitive league, but all eyes will be on Wrexham to see whether the journey can bring more success this season.

American media on Wrexham’s Championship hopes
A fourth promotion in a row would be quite the achievement, and Wrexham have certainly spent well in order to bolster Parkinson’s options.
Most predictions so far have Wrexham clear of relegation trouble, and ultimately consolidation in mid-table.
That may not make for particularly enthralling viewing on ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, but it would give Parkinson a strong foundation to kick on again next season.
Wrexham’s fortunes will certainly attract interest in the United States, with plenty of American fans emerging off the back of ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.
McElhenney and Reynolds have driven major interest, and the American media are now giving predictions on where Wrexham will finish this season.
CBS Sports Golazo have discussed Wrexham’s prospects for the season, with broadcaster Stefano Fusaro offering his thoughts on the season ahead.
Fusaro believes that Wrexham won’t quite be good enough for promotion, but will cause problems for many teams in the Championship.
Fusaro added that a relegation battle is unlikely, and particularly praised the deals to sign Josh Windass and Kieffer Moore.
“It’s been incredible, their story is one that, basically, the entire world is aware of and what they’ve done with three promotions really is historic,” said Fusaro. “But this year, it’s going to be a lot more difficult to get that other promotion.
“They’ve done well this summer, adding all of these players. Adding Josh Windass, which I think is a massive deal, Kieffer Moore, a proven goalscorer in the Championship, and that goes along with a team that already has a ton of camaraderie, feels good together after their recent history.
“It will be a fun season, I don’t think they will have enough to be promoted, but just to be in the Championship and to be competitive in the Championship is success already for this Wrexham side.
“I do think the signings they’ve had are enough to get them to safety, I don’t think that they’ll be battling relegation back to League One. I do think they will be a mid-table side, they will be battling, they will give some teams some difficult games, for sure.
“As far as the whole squad is concerned, I’m still a little bit sceptical to say they’ll be in the top six. I do think top 10 is on the cards for them, and maybe they can slide into the play-offs as that fifth or sixth team in the Championship,” he added.
Wrexham shouldn’t be involved at the bottom
As Fusaro mentioned, Wrexham’s summer business should rule out any concerns of a relegation battle.
The likes of Kieffer Moore, Josh Windass and Lewis O’Brien are proven performers at this level and should have more than enough quality to ensure Wrexham are nowhere near the bottom three.
Some may have doubts over Parkinson’s record at this level, but the Wrexham setup couldn’t be further away from the situation he battled at Bolton Wanderers.
Sheffield Wednesday may already need a miracle to stay up, while Preston North End simply haven’t improved nearly enough after narrowly avoiding the drop.
The likes of Hull City and Oxford United may have concerns at the bottom end as well, and we just can’t see Wrexham being involved in a relegation scrap.
Promotion may be a little too lofty for this season, but you can never truly say never with Parkinson’s winning machine.
