Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have helped transform Wrexham on and off the pitch since their arrival in 2021.
After being inspired by the Sunderland Till I Die documentary, Rob McElhenney opted to buy a football club.
With some help from friend Humphrey Ker, Rob decided that the team was going to be Wrexham AFC.
Owning and running a club is not cheap, however, with the Always Sunny Star bringing fellow actor Ryan Reynolds on board as Wrexham co-owner.
Their pair purchased the Red Dragons in February 2021 from the club’s Supporters Trust and the rest is history.
Wrexham recorded record profits in the 2023/24 season, setting what it thought to be a League Two record.
On the field, meanwhile, the Welsh outfit are still in contention to win another promotion this term, with McElhenney and Reynolds’ impact felt amid a 42-year-old record set to be broken in the coming weeks.

Wales’ First Minister praises Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds
The small town in Wales has grown into a global sensation over the last four years, in no small part due to the ‘Welcome to Wrexham‘ documentary series.
It has given the club a whole new international audience, which has had a very positive impact on the Town.
Speaking this week, as per Leader Live, Wales’ First Minister Eluned Morgan has been discussing the football club and when doing so, had high praise for Rob and Ryan.
She said: “Ryan and Rob have done amazing things for Wrexham, they have a great vision and it’s brilliant that they’ve committed to the area as a whole.
“Without question, it’s been a massive shot in the arm for the area. I popped into the Turf and people were explaining to me how Ryan and Rob’s influence has really put Wrexham on the map.”
On how the government have helped support the new tourists flocking to the area, she added: “As a government, it’s been brilliant to have provided funding to upgrade facilities in and around Wrexham.
“We’ve put in £750,000 to help revamp Xplore, £2.5million on the markets refurbishment, as well high street improvements, and £5.4 million towards the Welsh Football Museum project.
“As Wrexham gets more and more tourists as a result of the football club’s global appeal, these are projects that are helping to give Wrexham confidence that there is so much to enjoy while visiting.”
