Arthur Okonkwo has enjoyed tremendous success since he completed a permanent move to Wrexham from Arsenal.

One of the biggest transfer coups Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have pulled off following their takeover of Wrexham was the addition of Arthur Okonkwo.

The 23-year-old initially arrived on a season-long loan from Premier League outfit Arsenal in the summer of 2023.

He enjoyed a prolific debut campaign at the Racecourse Ground, keeping 14 clean sheets in 36 League Two outings, playing a key role in Wrexham securing promotion to the third tier.

The Welsh outfit were then able to secure the goalkeeper on a free over the summer, with Rob McElhenney having since shared what he told Okonkwo during Wrexham transfer talks.

The Englishman’s fine form has continued into the current campaign. Okonkwo has been backed to got to the ‘very top’ of the footballing world but is currently excelling in League One and the stats prove it.

What Wrexham star Arthur Okonkwo has done better than every Premier League goalkeeper

Okonkwo came in for praise after helping Wrexham keep a clean sheet away to Bolton Wanderers last month.

More recently, the Welsh side drew 0-0 with Leyton Orient on Saturday and were far from their best but were able to manage a shutout thanks to some heroics from the former Gunner.

Okonkwo’s display versus Leyton Orient was impressive and made even more staggering after Parkinson confirmed the player was ill for the match but still wanted to play.

Now, it has been revealed that the Wrexham shot-stopper has done one thing better than every Premier League goalkeeper so far in 2024/25.

Okonkwo has so far gone 383 minutes without conceding a goal this season – a record only bettered by four goalkeepers across the entire EFL, none of which are from the Premier League.

Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Sam Tickle takes top spot with 450 minutes gone without conceding while Michael Cooper, Filip Marschall and Owen Goodman make up the rest of the top five.

Arthur Okonkwo may be Wrexham signing of the summer

Wrexham made a number of quality signings during the most recent transfer window.

George Dobson has shone following his free transfer from Charlton Athletic, already being backed to win Player of the Season.

Dan Scarr looked solid in his first league start for the club on Tuesday evening and could be a big player for Wrexham once he gets up to speed.

Sebastian Revan continues to impress during his limited outings for the Red Dragons in the early stages of 2024/25 as well.

But after such a quality start to 2024/25, Okonkwo could be Wrexham’s signing of the summer.

He has been their most consistent performer of the campaign so far and his saves against Orient and Bolton played a major part in Parkinson’s side rescuing what could prove to be two crucial points.
