Wrexham have lost some fan favourites during their rise to the Championship.

Phil Parkinson’s ruthless streak has seen the likes of Ben Tozer and Luke Young dispensed with when they had reached their maximum potential with the club.

During the recent League One campaign, Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer were exiled from the squad and are also set to depart the Racecourse Ground in the summer transfer window.

Both players have featured heavily in the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ series and Season four’s release could be the final time they are seen in the documentary. Another Wrexham player Aaron Hayden will not be seen in the latest season and here is the reason why.

Why Aaron Hayden will not feature in ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ season four

Hayden will not be involved in the new season of the popular documentary set to air on Thursday 15th May 2025.

The former Wrexham defender is now playing for Carlisle United following his release from the Red Dragons in the summer of 2024.

The 28-year-old defender made 26 appearances for Carlisle in League Two and scored on three occasions. However, Hayden could not help to prevent his side from suffering relegation to the National League.

Rob McElhenney praised Hayden upon his release from the club and particularly made reference to his ability to win the ball in the air.

What Phil Parkinson said upon Aaron Hayden’s departure

Speaking to Wrexham’s official website, Parkinson was full of praise for Hayden and his fellow team mates upon their release from the club.

Parkinson stated: “I’d like to thank all the players for their efforts over the last few years. They’ve all played a part in our success and I’d like to wish them all the best for the future.

“The professionalism shown by all the lads has been excellent, and likewise those who have not been playing as regularly still play an important part with their attitudes and standards off the pitch.”

Steven Fletcher’s contract decision is next on the agenda for Wrexham and a decision has to be made by May 17th on his future and other players coming to an end of their contracts.
