Paul Mullin has seen his game time dramatically reduced at Wrexham in the last couple of months.
Wrexham signed Paul Mullin in the summer of 2021 from Cambridge United on a free transfer.
Fresh off the back of a 34-goal season in League Two, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds were sent a Mullin warning ahead of trying to get a deal over the line but they thankfully ignored it.
What followed was the now 30-year-old going on to become one of the most prolific goalscorers in the history of the Red Dragons.
| Season | Paul Mullin Wrexham goals (all competitions) |
| 2021/22 | 28 |
| 2022/23 | 46 |
| 2023/24 | 26 |
His strikes fired Wrexham from the depths of the National League up to League One in just a few years.
But now the Welsh outfit are competing in the third tier of English football, the Liverpool-born star has become a bit part player under Phil Parkinson.
After once again missing out versus Reading on March 11th, Wrexham fans sent a Mullin demand to Parkinson, urging their manager to bring the number nine back into the fold after not featuring in the club’s previous eight League One fixtures.

Paul Mullin was furious at lack of playing time under former manager
After scoring just three league goals in 2024/25, Parkinson opting to start the likes of Sam Smith ahead of Mullin does make some sense.
But the fact he’s been left out of seven of the last eight matchday squads in the third tier is bizarre.
This is not the first time the Englishman has struggled for minutes, however, enduring a tough spell following a move to Tranmere Rovers in 2018.
Mullin started just eight league matches in 2018/19 and when writing in his autobiography ‘My Wrexham Story’, which released in 2023, the striker revealed a chat with his wife Mollie, in which he discussed not playing, as quoted by the Mirror.
He wrote: “Playing under Micky had brought me to the unbelievable position where I actually hated football. Hated it. I didn’t want to be at training, nothing. I just couldn’t see the point anymore. No matter what I did, how I played, it made no difference.
“Micky didn’t like me and that was that. One morning I actually said to Mollie [Paul’s wife], ‘I don’t want to go. I’m not going to play anyway. I can’t be —– anymore. I just want to stay at home’.”

Why isn’t Paul Mullin playing for Wrexham
The last time Mullin featured in League One for Wrexham was during the 3-2 defeat to Stevenage that ended the Red Dragons’ 10-month unbeaten run at the Racecourse.
After that match, Mullin had a shin injury that kept him out of the Crawley Town victory the following week.
But when speaking post-Northampton Town, Parkinson revealed Mullin was available for the game on February 15th after recovering from the minor issue, but he wanted to go with other options on the bench.
It’s now been over six weeks since we have seen the striker in action, and with a huge meeting against Wycombe Wanders coming up on Saturday, that’s unlikely to change anytime soon.
Parkinson was asked about Mullin’s lack of playing time last week and admitted: “We’ve got a lot of strikers and it is difficult to keep everybody involved.”
