Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac have led many improvements at the club since they took over, but one major upgrade will help the Racecourse Ground reach the next level.

Since Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac took over at Wrexham, the club and its supporters have been on an incredible journey, with Red Dragons boss Phil Parkinson leading them to three successive promotions.

The rise in stature of the club has been unprecedented, both on and off the pitch. Wrexham now find themselves signing proven Welsh international talents, whilst the fanbase has spread worldwide to all four corners of the globe.

Wrexham have grown in many areas as a club, but their next step is necessary as they look to upgrade the Racecourse Ground to Championship level, something that would not be possible without the commitment and funds supplied by Reynolds and Mac.

Wrexham’s Racecourse Ground will receive ‘top-class facilities’ as Red Dragons chief discusses new Kop

The Racecourse Ground was in a rather sorry state when Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac took over at Wrexham, especially the Kop stand.

One of the first orders by the American duo was to try and come to an agreement with the local council to provide a top-class Kop stand to replace the current one, which had been left to rust.

Work is now underway to get the Kop stand ready for the 2026/27 season after the temporary stand was taken down during the summer.

Further details have since been provided on the stand by Rob Faulkner, Wrexham’s chief business and communications officer, who has expressed his excitement with the plans that will now come into fruition.

“We’ve always said with the sporting side being so successful, then the standards get raised in terms of what is expected,” said Faulkner to The Athletic.

“A lot of things will go into the new Kop, particularly for the fans and players with top-class facilities, new dressing rooms and so on. But until then, we are trying to catch up as much as we can.”

Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac made a perfect choice to improve Kop stand

When owners come into a club they previously had no connection to, especially those with huge aspirations of taking it far beyond where they currently sit, it is understandable to be dubious as to whether the correct decisions would be made.

For example, Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac easily could have given Wrexham a new home, and whilst it may have benefitted the club commercially, it would see them remove an integral part of the club’s history.

Unlike many owners in English football, Reynolds and Mac made the correct call to preserve the club’s rich history by keeping the Racecourse Ground, but also giving it a lick of paint as the club moves up the football pyramid.

Hopefully, the Kop stand can take the ground to the next level and reinstate the Racecourse’s reputation as a top stadium in Wales, one that reflects the brilliant rise of the club.
