Wrexham’s plans for the new Kop at the STōK Cae Ras are now expanding as Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds attempt to bring in more seats.
Wrexham’s rise through the leagues means Championship football is just days away.
Phil Parkinson’s side take on Southampton on the opening day of the season, heading down to the South Coast for a huge clash on the opening day.
Tickets have been a major story around Wrexham’s trip to Southampton, with fans facing quite the wait to purchase tickets for the trip to St Mary’s Stadium.
Wrexham will then host West Bromwich Albion in the first home game of the season, which will be an exciting and emotional occasion for many supporters.

Wrexham announce new Kop stand plans
Home tickets have also been an issue this week, as fans without season tickets must now enter into a ballot to try and obtain home tickets.
This is a major source of frustration for many supporters, especially those who bought memberships earlier in the summer.
Wrexham are hamstrung in a sense, as demand for tickets far outweighs supply right now, due to the redevelopment of the Kop.
The temporary Kop has been removed this summer, and the hope is that construction on the new Kop will begin soon.
Wrexham’s plans were made public earlier this year, with the design of a new 5,500-seater Kop stand released.
The initial plan was for Wrexham to have the stand ready to go for the 2026-27 season, and councillors approved the plans in March of this year.
Wrexham have now confirmed that a planning application has been submitted to Wrexham City Borough Council, with 2,250 extra seats now lined up.
That will take the new Kop to 7,750 seats and will take the overall capacity of the STōK Cae Ras to over 18,000.
Wrexham want to host international games in the future and are attempting to meet demand for tickets by adding even more seats.
Fans have been flocking from all over the world, and with seats in short supply right now, many global supporters are being left disappointed.
By expanding the plans for the Kop, Wrexham will hope to meet the demand for many years to come.
Wrexham fans on new Kop plans
The news comes after many Wrexham fans were left frustrated with the home ticket policy for this season, something which will hopefully be solved by these additional seats down the line.
The plans to expand the plans for the new Kop have largely gone down well, though, with fans believing that it’s a case of ‘the more seats, the better’.
Others called the plans ‘excellent’ and believe that fans will snap up the extra tickets whenever they are made available.
- Good news, hopefully start it soon.
- Noise at 3 stand Cae Ras always loud/proud, add 7.5k to that to = 18k fans – can’t begin to imagine how loud it’ll be, would easily fill 18k & it’d be a sight to see but “ACTIONS speak louder than WORDS”
- Give the council more reason to delay, hopefully they see sense and wave it through quickly
- Great news. Get it done at the same time. Sensible request to the council. Well done.
- Looks fab, more seats the better
- Great news. Plenty of time for the council to approve this.
- Build it & they will come…
- Defo needs to be over 7k, well done
- Excellent! Hoping for a quick decision..
Some are questioning whether the plans will be approved any time soon, and are anxious to see action on the Kop redevelopment rather than just words.
Demolition of the old Kop began in January 2023, and Wrexham fans want to see tangible progress sooner rather than later, especially with the temporary stand now gone.
Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds will certainly want swift progress as well, and will hope for the green light on these expanded plans very soon.
