Wrexham captain Luke Young has now revealed what makes Hollywood owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds so great.
Luke Young is one of few current Wrexham players who have experienced the highs and lows associated with the football club.
Captured on a permanent deal from Torquay United in the summer of 2018, Young is nearing six years at the STōK Cae Ras.
During that time, the 31-year-old has eclipsed the milestone of 250 appearances and enjoyed playing an integral role in their rise from National League strugglers to League Two promotion contenders.
Young arrived in Wales nearly three years before Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds completed their takeover. He’s survived a mass exodus of players while captaining the side through incredible success on the pitch.
He appreciates everything the Hollywood owners have done for Wrexham and has revealed what makes them so great.

Luke Young says what makes Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds so great
Wrexham supporters must feel like they are still living in a dream having watched their club get transformed by McElhenney and Reynolds.
From backing Phil Parkinson in the transfer market to making tickets affordable and connecting with the fans, those are just three of the variables that have created a recipe for success.
McElhenney and Reynolds haven’t just stamped their mark on the football club, making a difference outside of football by donating thousands of pounds to charity and immersing themselves into the city.
The Hollywood duo have also developed a strong bond with the players, with Young detailing how they’re so down to earth and always willing to have a conversation.
“The owners have stamped their mark on every part of the club,” Young told the Athletic. “Same with the community and the town. You hold your hands up and say, ‘Fair play’.
“On the other side of that, they are great people; really down-to-earth and you can have a great conversation with them. If you drop them a text, they reply straight away. Little things like that make this great.”
McElhenney and Reynolds are different class
McElhenney and Reynolds are two of the most famous people on the planet, but they don’t see themselves as above anyone and are so down to earth.
As Young states, it’s the little things they do – like texting back straight away – that make a huge difference to the players.
Having owners willing to go the extra mile for the playing staff is so refreshing to see, and those connections off the field can boost the team’s morale on the pitch.
That is one reason why Wrexham are in a strong position to win promotion to League One. Everyone at the club is pulling in the same direction and wants to achieve success together.
Let’s hope success this season is a fairytale promotion to the third tier.
