Michael Williamson reveals Phil Parkinson is better than Roberto Mancini
Williamson was speaking at a Wrexham fans’ event for podcast Fearless in Devotion and has praised Parkinson’s man-management skills by saying they are better than European Championship winner Roberto Mancini.
Williamson stated: “I’ve worked with a lot of different managers at different levels, Roberto Mancini is still a good friend. I’ve worked with Anthony Pulis, who’s Tony Pulis’s son, and I’ve worked with Paul Dalglish, who’s Kenny Dalglish’s son… but Phil is by far the most enjoyable and the best manager I’ve ever worked with.”
Williamson spent several years with Mancini at Inter Milan but heaped praise on the job that Parkinson is doing amid the attention and hype surrounding the North Wales club.
Williamson explained: “He has an approach about how he develops and builds the dressing room that I’ve never seen. He is somebody who understands personalities, understands people, understands characters, and builds an environment and a mentality. You’ve seen the results. He’s just generally somebody I enjoy being around and talking to, so we’ve established a great relationship.”
Parkinson establishing himself as one of British football’s most respected managers
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney praised Parkinson’s recent milestone as the former Bolton and Bradford manager reached 1000 games as a manager during the New Year’s Day defeat to Barnsley.
Parkinson has guided Wrexham to back-to-back promotions and is looking to achieve a record third straight promotion for the club by guiding them into the Championship.
Parkinson is highly-regarded at not only the Racecourse Ground but in the world of football in general and is known for his compassion and respect that helps build to form successful relationships.
Of all of the signings and investments the Wrexham owners have put into the football club, appointing Phil Parkinson as their manager could have been their most significant decision made.
