Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham may find themselves squaring up against one Man United talent this weekend, who has been lauded as a ‘great’ player by Bruno Fernandes.
Wrexham will host their first home Championship game of the 2025/26 season this weekend as they welcome West Brom to the Racecourse Ground.
The Red Dragons suffered an agonising defeat in the first game of the campaign, having been on track for a win until Ryan Manning and Jack Stephens scored late on to win the game for Southampton.
Fortunately, they got back to winning ways during the week as they kicked off their EFL Cup campaign in style, beating fellow Championship side Hull City on penalties after two late Ollie Palmer goals brought the Red Dragons back level.
This weekend will prove to be yet another huge test for Phil Parkinson’s side, especially with the prospect of potentially facing one Man United youngster.

West Brom could sign Man United star Toby Collyer ahead of Wrexham clash
Wrexham will be pitted against a West Brom side with plenty of quality this weekend.
The Baggies won their season opener at home to Blackburn Rovers under new boss Ryan Mason, and their squad will likely be further bolstered with the addition of Man United youngster Toby Collyer, who is in advanced talks with a move to the Baggies, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.
The 21-year-old talent has already been handed a taste of Premier League and Europa League football with Man United, and could likely thrive at Championship level.
If he signs in time, West Brom boss Mason will no doubt turn towards Collyer to play a part straight away, where he will likely slot into defensive midfield and be handed the responsibility of quashing the threat of Wrexham star Josh Windass.

What Bruno Fernandes said about Tony Collyer
The Man United youngster has already made a name for himself at Old Trafford, and as a result there could be much to be feared from Wrexham’s point of view.
Whilst his game time for the Red Devils first team has been rather limited, having notched just 13 games for Man United, he has still made an impression on the club’s top stars, including Bruno Fernandes.
Via the Man United club website, Fernandes said: “Toby is a great kid, he’s a great example of a professional.
“He’s a great example of someone who comes from the Academy and knows his place, knows how much he wants to get into the positions of other players where they are. He trains very well every week, he trains at the maximum level every time.
“He’s a really good kid who wants to learn. He’s eager to learn, he’s eager to listen. He has big, big qualities – he’s aggressive off the ball, he’s aggressive running with the ball, he’s class in tight spaces.
“This is just the first few games that he’s getting in; he’s just going to get better.”
After such a review, Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson will be fully aware of his capabilities, and how he must be singled out as a player to look out for from the Red Dragons’ perspective.
