Wrexham may have started the season in shaky fashion, but that won’t stop fans from loving the Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds journey.
Wrexham’s rise through the leagues has been rapid and surely beyond the wildest dreams of many supporters.
Could any fans have realistically expected Wrexham to outspend Barcelona within four years of Mac and Reynolds’ takeover? We can’t imagine there were many.
Wrexham’s ultimate goal is the Premier League, and that may mean more spending from Mac and Reynolds in the near future.

Wrexham councillor on Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds
Wrexham County Borough councillor Nigel Williams has now admitted that he is looking towards the long term in the local area – and that may or may not include Mac and Reynolds.
Williams serves as Wrexham County Borough Council’s Lead member for Economy, Business and Tourism, so his work has been heavily impacted by Wrexham’s rise – and the fans flocking from all over the world to watch Parkinson’s side.
Speaking to Il Post in Italy, Williams accepted that this incredible Wrexham journey could be over in a couple of years, such is the ever-changing landscape of football.
Williams wants to ensure that Wrexham can manage as a city without Mac and Reynolds, just in case they end up selling the club down the line.
“It could end in two or three years, and we need to make sure we can manage on our own,” said Williams.
Williams has previously raised Mac and Reynolds for the exposure they have given Wrexham, branding their impact as ‘fantastic’.
The old adage is to ‘make hay while the sun shines’, and while Williams will look to take advantage of the buzz around the local area right now, he will be looking for ways to ensure Wrexham continues to develop no matter what happens with the football club.
Nigel Williams on ‘Welcome to Wrexham’
Part of the buzz around Wrexham has been generated by ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.
The hit FX show has enabled Wrexham to be shown on screens all over the world, and subsequently attracted major tourism to the area.
Williams noted to Il Post that the portrayal of Wrexham has been a little unfair, and claims the rejuvenation of the city had started before Mac and Reynolds even arrived.
Wrexham has certainly been given a boost from the football club’s success, and we can only say ‘long may it continue’.
Mac and Reynolds don’t look to be angling for a sale any time soon and seem committed as ever, with Reynolds in town for last weekend’s defeat to Queens Park Rangers.
Wrexham has become a place to be, and while it’s wise to build the city’s infrastructure during a period of real interest in the area, we hope that this journey lasts for a few more years yet.
