One Wrexham expert has pointed towards one Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac signing who will be ‘huge’ for the Red Dragons this season.

Wrexham kick off their 2025/26 Championship season this weekend, where they face a trip to Southampton.

It will be a huge task for Phil Parkinson’s side, coming up against a recently-relegated Premier League outfit, but Wrexham will have many new signings on display who will hopefully transform the team.

Wrexham have significantly bolstered all areas on the pitch this summer, with Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac showing clear financial backing for Phil Parkinson.

Whilst the majority of new signings carry plenty of excitement with them, one new Wrexham star has been tipped to be head and shoulders above the rest this season.

Wrexham signing Lewis O’Brien tipped for greatness by expert

Ahead of the new season, Wrexham expert Richard Williams has previewed the Red Dragons’ upcoming Championship campaign, speaking to Hull Daily Mail.

After predicting a respectable 9th placed finish for the Red Dragons this season, who he claims will be a surprise package in the Championship, he continued to give lofty expectations of new signing Lewis O’Brien.

When asked who Wrexham’s key player will be this season, he wrote: “Lewis O’Brien. A sought-after midfielder who Wrexham signed from Nottingham Forest, O’Brien has a good engine on him and will get up the pitch to support attacks as well as do the dirty work. A huge signing when Parkinson landed him.”

O’Brien signed for the Red Dragons this summer from Nottingham Forest, and arrives with a wealth of Championship experience notched for both Huddersfield Town and Swansea City, notably.

How Lewis O’Brien could transform Phil Parkinson’s side

Since joining up at the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham midfielder Lewis O’Brien has been given a huge sell, with many tipping the Englishman for greatness with the Red Dragons.

It is safe to say that O’Brien will transform Phil Parkinson’s side, having added far more quality to the Wrexham centre of the park.

O’Brien notably shone whilst at Huddersfield Town in their play-off finishing campaign, which they went on to lose to Nottingham Forest. The midfielder’s stamina, strength and passing range will be crucial following the jump up to the Championship, as will his leadership.

Former Forest midfielder, O’Brien, will likely prove to be a huge upgrade on Wrexham boss Parkinson’s previous options, and hopefully, he can lift the quality of other players around him, as he has been able to do at other clubs.
