Wrexham defender Conor Coady has spoken about the drawbacks of the international break and how it has hindered them.
Phil Parkinson’s side resume their Championship campaign this weekend as Wrexham welcome QPR to the Racecourse Ground.
Two weeks after the Red Dragons’ previous game, which saw Wrexham beat Millwall on their travels, Parkinson has had plenty of time to prepare for the upcoming challenge.
Wrexham have been backed to beat QPR and win back-to-back games, but things could prove rather difficult coming off the back of an international break.
Red Dragons’ new signing Conor Coady spoke to the media ahead of this weekend’s clash, to preview the game while also speaking about the ‘awkward’ timing they have faced due to the international break.

Conor Coady makes Wrexham momentum claim following international break
Wrexham’s new signing, Conor Coady, has already become a fan favourite at the Racecourse Ground, having settled into life in North Wales very quickly.
The centre-back has taken on media duties ahead of QPR, and, via Leader Live, he has expressed his frustration at the international break, but stresses that it is ‘important’ to pick up where they left off.
“I might sound a bit stupid saying that but because we won a game, we wanted to keep on going and the QPR game can’t come around quick enough now,” said Coady.
“The break come at a bit of an awkward time but we are really excited for Saturday.
“It is a good game for us but the most important thing for us is that it is here at this stadium.
“It is important that we give these supporters a win when we can.”
QPR have endured a challenging start to the 2025/26 Championship season, having notched only one point in the first three, while also suffering a 7-1 drubbing against Coventry City.
However, like Wrexham, they picked up their first three points before the international break, and will hope to continue their momentum.

Conor Coady has been a leader for Wrexham so far
Wrexham brought in 14 new faces during the summer transfer window, with Phil Parkinson prioritising Championship experience amongst his ranks.
However, what Conor Coady has provided has gone far beyond that. The leadership he has shown since joining the camp has clearly had a huge impact on the squad.
As a result of Coady’s arrival, Wrexham have shown defensive improvements, and that was showcased brilliantly away at Millwall, where the Red Dragons managed their first clean sheet of the 2025/26 season in all competitions.
This weekend provides Parkinson’s side with a glorious opportunity to stretch their legs in the Championship, and hopefully string a run of positive results together.
