Wrexham fans all make same Elliot Lee point after Burton victory – he did something ridiculous

Wrexham and Burton Albion went head-to-head in a 3pm League One kick-off on December 8th.

The Red Dragons kicked off at the Pirelli Stadium eyeing a fourth-straight victory in League One.

Wrexham beat Barnsley 1-0 on Tuesday to ensure their place in the automatic promotion places was maintained for at least a few more days.

However, Saturday’s meeting with Burton Albion was expected to prove a real test for Phil Parkinson’s side.

Burton may have started the day sat 23rd in the league but Wrexham’s away form has been dire this term, dropping six points already when playing away from the Racecourse Ground.

The Welsh outfit were also without a number of key players for the clash, including number-two goalkeeper Callum Burton.

James McClean and George Dobson were suspended for the tie, seeing Andy Cannon return at the heart of midfield and Sebastian Revan come in at left-back.

Wrexham fans in agreement about Elliot Lee after Burton

Wrexham started the game pretty slowly and didn’t create an awful lot in the first half, in large part due to the weather.

However, the away outfit eventually opened the scoring in ridiculous fashion in the 65th minute when Elliot Lee, with some help from the wind, saw his corner curl in at the back post.

After scoring such a remarkable goal, Wrexham fans have taken to social media to praise Lee.

One fan wrote: “WOW ELLIOT LEE THAT IS INCREDIBLE,” with a second adding: “Great goodness – what a goal!”

A third fan stated: “Post that absolute strike of a goal now,” while a fourth added: “Take. A. Bow.”

Another Wrexham fan simply reacted: “King@ElliotLee9,” followed by a crown emoji.

A sixth Red Dragons fan claimed: “That is absolutely incredible from Lee.” And a seventh added: “On fire Lee,” followed by several fire emojis.

Elliot Lee struggling in new Wrexham role

While Lee did score on Saturday afternoon, and in pretty special fashion, his overall performance was not great.

Wrexham fans weren’t happy with Lee after Lincoln City last month after he struggled when playing as a make-shift striker.

He has since started the Red Dragons’ last two games up front, including the Burton tie, but has been largely poor.

Parkinson has so many different striking options available to him right now and it would not be surprising to see Lee put back in his more natural midfield role next week with someone like Paul Mullin coming into the team up top.
