Wrexham fans have sent a clear Paul Mullin message ahead of the meeting with Peterborough United.
The Red Dragons are looking to book their place at Wembley Stadium for the second time under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.
Wrexham tasted defeat in the FA Trophy final back in 2022 but could be set for redemption later this season versus new rivals, Birmingham City.
Birmingham’s spot in the EFL Trophy showpiece was confirmed last week when they bested League Two outfit Bradford City.
Meanwhile, Wrexham face Peterborough United in the other semi-final on the evening of February 26th.
Phil Parkinson’s side have seen off the Posh in both their League One meetings this term but a lot of changes to the teams are expected when they line out on Wednesday given it’s a cup competition and the league is, of course, the priority.
Wrexham fans send Paul Mullin demand ahead of Peterborough United
Parkinson has given chances to a lot of fringe players in the EFL Trophy this season, including Harry Ashfield and George Evans.
Now, in the days leading up to the match, Wrexham fans expressed their desire for Paul Mullin to start the game, likely ahead of Jay Rodriguez.
A Wrexham fan stated: “I’m struggling to see what Rodriguez brings to the squad.”
One fan said in response: “On the evidence of two games this week, nobody convinces me he should start before Mulls!”
Another echoed: “If Mulls is truly healthy then I think he has to start Wednesday to get some minutes.”
“Need this man back in the starting 11,” a third stated in response to a picture of Mullin.
While a fourth added: “Wednesday has to be his chance. Marriott isn’t fit enough to start again this season and Parky definitely wants to win and get to the final. I wouldn’t be too shocked if it’s Palmer/Mullin up top.”
And another Wrexham fan wrote: “Hopefully Mulls comes back again against Peterborough.”
Why Paul Mullin has been missing for Wrexham
The 30-year-old has now failed to feature in any of Wrexham’s last six fixtures across all competitions.
He made the bench over the weekend against Mansfield but was not brought on.
Parkinson explained Mullin’s absence recently, confirming that while the striker had recovered from his shin injury, he preferred other options ahead of the Liverpool-born star.
He said: “Mulls is fine, he’s fit. He trained well last week, he looked really sharp the back end of the week. But I wanted to go with Fletch and Jack on the bench.
“I wanted to get the balance of the bench right and I felt we did that.”
