Wrexham fans are all in agreement over the departure of an ‘integral’ part of Phil Parkinson’s squad

Wrexham announced the departure of a popular member of the squad amid the excitement of the incoming striking duo of Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez.

Wrexham announced the departure of James Jones to Burton Albion and it signalled the end for an integral member of Phil Parkinson’s squad that have risen through the divisions.

Wrexham sent their own message of gratitude to the midfielder before Rob McElhenney wrote a heartfelt message to Jones displaying his sense of sadness at the move.

Jones made over 100 appearances for the club and was a key component in the side that won the National League and then secured promotion from League Two the following season. Wrexham fans have shared the sentiment that he will be truly missed at the club.

Wrexham fans react to James Jones moving to Burton Albion

Jones was a popular figure at the Racecourse Ground during his spell at the club and the Wrexham fans having taken to X to share their memories and messages of good luck for the midfielder.

One fan on X stated: “So sorry to see you go James Jones. You’ve been excellent for us and a really big part of the success we have had over the past few years – you helped create history and we’ll be forever grateful.”

Another Wrexham fan stated: “What a signing he was for us, never let us down, good luck James Jones on your next move.”

Many fans shared the same opinion that Jones gave everything for the club and his contribution was summed up perfectly by this fan, who stated: “Incredible servant to the club. Best wishes to you and your family James Jones. Thanks for the lifelong memories.”

One Wrexham fan even compiled a video of his greatest memories of the midfield dynamo.

James Jones scored against Sheffield United in the FA Cup

Over the course of his Wrexham career, Jones played 138 times for the club and contributed 16 goals across all competitions.

Whilst he will be remembered for his enthusiasm and energy in the middle of the park, perhaps the greatest memory of Jones will forever be for his equaliser against Sheffield United in the FA Cup fourth round.

Jones moves to Burton Albion, where he will link up with former Red Dragon team mate Jon Dadi Bodvarsson in an attempt to keep the club in League One.

James Jones will be fondly remembered at Wrexham Football Club forever and the club has given him the send off that he truly deserved for all of his magnificent efforts.
