Wrexham could see one of their most expensive players leave the club in the 2025 summer transfer window.

The Red Dragons won promotion for a third time in 2024/25 and have made wholesale changes to their squad.

Wrexham want another striker added to their ranks and have already brought in six senior players this summer.

EFL Championship squad rules will impact Phil Parkinson and Co. as a result, with 30 players 21 or over currently on their books.

It means five will miss out when Parkinson comes to select his 25-man squad after the deadline.

Now, Wrexham fans have been discussing one player leaving this summer.

Wrexham fans agree on Modou Faal leaving

Among the fringe players who could depart in 2025 is striker Modou Faal.

The forward played just 63 minutes in League One last term and amid rumours of a loan move, Wrexham fans agree it makes sense.

One fan wrote: “Rumours that Mo Faal is going on loan to Walsall for the season in L2, with possibly the option to buy. He was with them on loan before Wrexham signed him. My honest view – nice guy and he might ‘come good’ one day, but sadly he’s miles off what we need now. Absolutely miles.”

A second responded: “Makes sense, but we’ll end up making a loss.”

A third added: “Was always going to be a longer-term project player that hopefully paid off, but with the run we were on was never going to get any game time. Just sucks for him with what we paid, the expectations were a bit higher. Seems like a great lad though, I hope this move comes off.”

“Mo got barely any play (63 mins in league), so I haven’t seen enough to make any big judgments. Some very enjoyable goals in the trophy, tho (Wolves U21 overhead). In any case, loan great idea, if it gets him more playing time. Like Mo a lot and would love to see him smash it,” tweeted a fourth.

Another wrote: “Spot on. If we were still in League One, he might be worth giving a chance to, but like you say, he’s miles off the level we are at now.”

A sixth agreed: “Makes sense to begin with! Get game time as no way he’ll get enough now we’re in the Championship.”

While another Wrexham fan responded: “Sadly, I think you’re right, mate.”

How much did Wrexham pay for Modou Faal

Wrexham broke their transfer record for Faal towards the end of the 2024 summer transfer window.

The striker arrived from Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion with limited senior experience.

James McClean confirmed how much Wrexham paid for Faal shortly after his arrival, with Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac paying out £590,000.

That transfer record has since been broken several times in the last two windows.
