The 2025/26 season is nearly upon us, and one supercomputer has delivered an unwelcome prediction for Wrexham striker Paul Mullin.
2024/25 was a rough year for Paul Mullin, beginning with an injury over the summer that affected him throughout the season.
Mullin scored three league goals for Wrexham in the first half of the most recent campaign, but it wasn’t enough to keep his place.
Phil Parkinson brought Jay Rodriguez and Sam Smith to the club in January, which saw the 30-year-old and Ollie Palmer lose their places in the squad.
While still under contract until 2027, the striker’s future at the Racecourse Ground was unclear going into the summer, and Mullin has now joined Wigan Athletic on loan.

Supercomputer deals Paul Mullin blow for 25/26
Wrexham can recall the centre-forward in January should he thrive back in League One with the Latics.
Mullin scored his first Wigan goal in a private match this month but has not opened his account during their proper pre-season fixtures.
Based on their friendlies so far, it looks like the Wrexham loanee will be playing regular football once more in 2025/26.
Now, Opta have shared their supercomputer prediction for League One clubs in the coming season.
It’s not great news for Mullin and the rest of the Wigan squad, however, as Ryan Lowe’s men are predicted an 11th-place finish, which would not be enough for the play-offs.

Wrexham rivals to win promotion
Meanwhile, at the top end of League One, one of the Red Dragons’ old rivals are going to thrive.
Wrexham and Stockport County have been clashing for several years since the Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds era began.
Stockport won promotion from the National League ahead of them and finished above the Welsh club in 2023/24.
Now, it looks like they could be joining Wrexham in the Championship very soon, with Opta predicting they will finish first in the third tier.
