Wrexham have been given a difficult verdict on their opening Championship fixtures as Phil Parkinson looks set to face a huge challenge.

The Red Dragons have enjoyed an incredible few years under Parkinson, but this season looks set to be their biggest challenge yet.
Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac have helped the club brace itself for the shift in quality of teams they will face by backing Parkinson financially so he can bring in proven Championship players; although, it still looks set to be a difficult season for the Red Dragons.
To make matters worse for Wrexham, they have been handed an incredibly tough run of opening fixtures, with a supercomputer working out the difficulties awaiting the first team.

Based on Wrexham’s opening four fixtures, they have been told, via OPTA Analyst, that they have the 5th most difficult Championship run-in.
The Red Dragons take on Southampton on their travels on the opening day of the season, which is then followed by two home clashes with West Brom and Sheffield Wednesday before a trip to Millwall.
In an average opponent rating, Wrexham’s has been tallied to 81.6, in comparison to Middlesbrough, with an 82.3, who statistically have the most challenging run-in.
Fellow Welsh side Swansea City have also been given a tough run-in, having the 3rd toughest in the Championship.

Pressure could be on Wrexham early on this season due to the expectations they have set from previous seasons, lower down in the EFL.
Whilst it looks set to be a challenging opening set of games for Wrexham to play in the 2025/26 Championship season, Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson will not be using that as a reason to cut the players any slack. No matter the difficulty of the ties, Parkinson will put emphasis on Wrexham getting off to a quick start this season.
