Wrexham have seen a lot of their previously key players leave or be forced down the pecking order this summer.

Wrexham loaned Paul Mullin to Wigan Athletic during the 2025 summer transfer window following his axe in early 2025.

Ollie Palmer’s contract was terminated in August so that the club icon could move to League Two outfit Swindon Town.

Another three-time promotion winner, Andy Cannon, has not played for Wrexham this term due to injury, and it’s hard to see him getting back into the Championship squad, which will be full once Ollie Rathbone returns.

Meanwhile, there is another Wrexham hero who, though he is currently named in the 24-man team, hasn’t played a single minute of league football this season.

Will Elliot Lee leave Wrexham

Reports over the summer stated that Elliot Lee was allowed to leave Wrexham.

The attacking midfielder has 40 goals as a Red Dragon and was a key player in all of their recent promotions under Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.

However, question marks over Lee’s future were mooted early this season and the Englishman is yet to play a game in the Championship.

Parkinson is giving Lee the Paul Mullin treatment and is not even including him in matchday squads anymore.

He was left on the bench versus Southampton, West Brom, Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall.

But the 30-year-old has now been axed for the Dragons’ five most recent league squads.

Lee is under contract with Wrexham until 2027, but if he’s no longer needed in the league, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him leave in January or next summer.

Elliot Lee wage

Lee has been at Wrexham since the National League days, signing from Luton Town.

His last contract extension in North Wales came in January 2024.

Capology report that the midfielder takes home £5,500-a-week or £286,000-a-year on his current deal.

So, if his exile from the Championship squad continues until January, he will have pocketed £110,000 without kicking a ball in the second tier.

Should he not play a league match all season but remain at the club beyond the winter window, he’ll have earned close to £200,000 over the course of the campaign.
