Ollie Rathbone on Wrexham pull
Wrexham won’t be getting too carried away and need to back this win up with another strong display against Lincoln City on Tuesday night.
Wrexham’s original clash with Lincoln City was postponed due to international call-ups but the Imps finally arrive at the STōK Cae Ras this week.
Parkinson will have big lineup decisions to make but midfielder Rathbone has certainly staked his claim for a start.
Rathbone came in to midfield with Andy Cannon ruled out through suspension and took his chance by scoring the third goal.
Angel Gomes praised Rathbone for his goal and he has certainly given Parkinson reason to pick him over the returning Cannon.
Rathbone has now commented on the hype around Wrexham – both in terms of how opponents view games and how potential signings feel.
Speaking on Wrexham’s official YouTube channel, Rathbone suggested that visiting teams tend to raise their game against Wrexham.
Rathbone thinks that Lincoln will therefore give it a real go on Tuesday night, but backs his Wrexham teammates to step it up and get the job done.
Rathbone also claims that Wrexham is an ‘attractive place’ for potential signings, believing that many players want to sign and play for Wrexham.
“I think any team that comes here maybe tries to lift their game a little bit more,” said Rathbone.
“I think it’s quite an attractive away game, it’s definitely an attractive place where players want to come and sign and play, so I think they will 100% have their tails up and if we conduct ourselves like we did today, I’m sure we’ll be fine,” he added.
Wrexham will be busy in January
Rathbone found Wrexham very appealing himself, leaving Rotherham United for a move to the STōK Cae Ras.
Wrexham are aiming high and that may mean spending in the January transfer window to bolster Parkinson’s options.
Reports suggest that Wrexham want to sign a new striker in January with Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds ready to splash the cash.
