Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney became instant fan favourites after they took over Wrexham.
The Hollywood duo purchased the club from Wrexham’s Supporters Trust in February 2021.
When Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney decided to buy a football club, it came as quite a shock to fans of the English game.
Neither actor had previously shown any real interest in the sport but McElhenney was inspired by Sunderland and their ‘Sunderland Till I Die’ documentary.
After taking control of the Welsh team, Reynolds and McElhenney let manager Dean Keates go and put Phil Parkinson in the dugout.
Parkinson has since guided Wrexham to back-to-back promotions, in no small part thanks to the backing of the club’s owners.
Reynolds and McElhenney have not been shy about spending money since their takeover three years ago, with a number of big names arriving at the Racecourse Ground.

Elliot Lee reveals what makes Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney ‘special owners’
One of the biggest players to join Wrexham under the American pair’s ownership has been Elliot Lee.
The 29-year-old arrived in Wales on a free transfer from Luton Town in July 2022 and has since been integral to the club’s rise up the EFL ladder.
Now, in an interview with GQ Sports, Lee has revealed why Reynolds and McElhenney are ‘special owners’.
He said: “I think we have got a great relationship with them. If you don’t know about the English football game, not many owners are like them, if any.
“It’s just a straight business. You don’t really have any contact, But with Rob and Ryan, they have been incredible for all of us. They take an interest in your personal life and how you’re actually getting on.
“For me personally, Ryan called me a day or two after I signed. Little things like that make them very special owners.”

Is Elliot Lee the best Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney Wrexham signing
Wrexham have made some quality signings in the last three years, breaking their transfer record several times.
At first glance, it seems obvious that 101-goal striker Paul Mullin has been the best signing of the Reynolds and McElhenney era.
However, the addition of Lee may have been just as crucial in Wrexham making it to League One in the space of a few years.
Despite playing as a midfielder, Lee scored 12 in 45 National League matches during his debut campaign at the club.
And after helping Wrexham return to the EFL following a 15-year hiatus, the midfielder then found the net a staggering 16 times and provided five assists to help the club win promotion to the third division.
Only Mullin contributed more goals than Lee in the previous campaign, a stat that perhaps goes somewhat under the radar as it is strikers who normally take all the glory.
