Wrexham are currently unbeaten in their last five games across both the EFL Cup and the Championship, with their last three results being draws.

The Red Dragons have been on an incredible journey with Phil Parkinson as manager from the National League to the Championship with three consecutive promotions.

While performances have been impressive, as demonstrated in their latest draw with Birmingham City, a worrying stat has emerged for Wrexham.

There will be a desire for the club to sort this out after the international break when they face Stoke City, particularly with this one star able to do that for the Welsh side.

George Dobson ‘grateful’ for the faith Phil Parkinson has in him

The midfielder and the current Red Dragons boss go back a long way, having worked together at Sunderland previously.

Parkinson is a huge fan of Dobson and believes he has been key to the fine form of the club currently in the Championship; however, it is Dobson who appears to be thanking his manager for allowing him to find this within himself.

Speaking with the BBC, he said: “I’ve known the gaffer for a long time.

“He put his faith in me a lot when I was younger. To re-sign me and put a lot of faith in me here, I’m very grateful for that.

“I’m just trying to pay him back with my performances and to put everything in for him, the club and my whole family to try and prove I’m good enough to play at the level.”

George Dobson wanted to test himself in the Championship

Wrexham fans have been amazed by Dobson’s performances in recent weeks and are loving having the midfielder as the heartbeat of the side, alongside Lewis O’Brien and Ben Sheaf.

It’s easy to see why they have been impressed, as seen in his personal stats, with Dobson’s 136 final-third passes, 33 tackles and 42 possession-winning actions all being more than any Wrexham player.

He said: “I knew it was going to be really tough to stay in the team given the calibre of players we brought in – I knew it was going to be a challenge.

“Having nine seasons in League One, I really wanted to try and prove that I’m good enough to play in the Championship.

“That’s all I’m going to try and do every opportunity I get, to try and stay in the team and hopefully help the team get up the table.”
