Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has spoken about the recent form of George Dobson, following the draw against Birmingham City.

On Friday night, Wrexham and Birmingham City met for the first time in the Championship, following the club’s newfound rivalry emerging in League One last season.

In the end, Wrexham and Birmingham City drew 1-1 with the Dragons initially taking the lead through George Dobson who scored his first goal of the season.

And it’s a reward for a player who’s been in fine form of late. Wrexham fans have praised Dobson’s form this season with the midfielder having really stepped up to the plate.

He’s now played every minute of every Championship game for Wrexham so far this season.

Speaking after the game, Phil Parkinson was asked to comment on Dobson’s form this season. Parkinson agreed that the 27-year-old is someone who’s made the step up to the Championship and that he’s proving he belongs in the Championship.

The Wrexham boss explained: “There’s an opportunity there for everybody to stake a claim and Dobbo’s done that. He’s a player with a with a huge heart, but he’s got quality as well, and he’s shown it again tonight.

“He’s stepped up to the level and he’s got the determination to show everybody he can live in this company, and he’s really shown it.”

When is George Dobson out of contract at Wrexham?

Wrexham have often handed extended deals to players who are either coming to the ends of their deals or who are simply impressing.

Dobson is one who’s impressing right now and his current contract runs until the summer of 2027. So Wrexham are really in no rush to extend his contract and if Dobson keeps on performing this season, then they would surely look at a new contract next summer.

Next year, Dobson will be entering the final year of his contract at the Racecourse. Wrexham though might even put together a new deal for Dobson before then.

But if the Dragons fast-track their promotion to the Premier League then Dobson might be one who quickly falls down the pecking order, as promotion to the Premier League would see another wave of quality players arriving at the club.
