Wrexham secured a massive 3-0 victory over Burton Albion to take a giant step towards League One promotion.
Burton fans were fuming with the red card shown to Charlie Webster early in the first half but that did not stop Gary Bowyer’s side making it a difficult afternoon for Phil Parkinson’s side.
It took two moments of brilliance from Sam Smith to unlock the stubborn Burton resistance and only then could Wrexham feel relaxed about securing the three points.
Arthur Okonkwo made a tremendous save in the first half to keep the game at 0-0 as Burton posed a threat on the counter attack and one Wrexham defender has made it into the League One team of the week with their display.

Eoghan O’Connell praised Steven Fletcher after the striker’s goal scoring heroics from the substitutes bench yet again for the Red Dragons in the 3-0 win.
Jack Marriott also scored from the bench but it was a defensive display that caught the eye of WhoScored as they named their League One team of the week.
Lewis Brunt bounced back from conceding a penalty in the 2-2 draw with Cambridge to produce an excellent display for Parkinson’s side.
Brunt was commanding in the air and in his ground duels, whilst often building attacks from deep with his simple yet effective range of passing.
Lewis Brunt has fought off competition from Thomas O’Connor
Whilst Max Cleworth and Eoghan O’Connell have been consistent selections in Wrexham’s back line this season, Brunt and Thomas O’Connor have been fighting it out for the third centre back slot.
Brunt returned to the team in the 1-0 victory at Wycombe back in March and has kept his place since with four clean sheets in his last five appearances.

Parkinson has the luxury of having a solid defensive shape throughout his team and knows that whoever slots in from now until the end of the season has plenty of football in their legs.
Clean sheets has been a real foundation for success for the Red Dragons this season and with five games remaining, they will know that their sharpness will come even more into question over the coming weeks.
