Burton fans make bizarre claim about Wrexham after game-changing call, it makes no sense

Wrexham fans made their feelings clear during the Red Dragons’ most recent League One fixture against Burton Albion.

The Red Dragons have been on a sensational run of form in the last month or saw, only marred by a 2-2 draw with Cambridge United last time out.

Wrexham had a goal disallowed in that meeting and Phil Parkinson has been sent an apology following a questionable penalty being awarded.

Thankfully, Wycombe Wanderers were also held to a draw with Shrewsbury Town during the midweek League One fixtures.

This mean Parkinson and co. kicked off at the Racecourse Ground still sat in second and largely in the drivers seat when it comes to securing promotion.

Burton Albion were expected to prove another tough test, however, given they managed to beat Leyton Orient last time out.

Burton Albion fans not happy with red card vs Wrexham

Wrexham dominated possession in the early stages and quickly gained an advantage after a Burton player was shown a straight red card.

Charlie Webster went in late and high on George Dobson, leaving the midfielder in a heap on the floor.

It seemed an obvious red card but a number of Burton fans have since taken to social media to dispute it, bizarrely suggesting Wrexham have an advantage because the EFL want them promoted.

One fan wrote: “Got to keep Hollywood up there.”

A second added: “Football league protecting those flash Hollywood —-.”

“Terrible decision,” another supporter simply claimed, with a fourth boldly suggesting: “Yellow card at an absolute max.”

A fifth fan continued: “Hahahaha —- — Hollywood always get what they want.”

While another stated: “EFL really want Wrexham to go up don’t they.”

Wrexham disciplinary record is impressive

Burton’s red card on Saturday was clearly justified, with the referee having a great view of the challenge.

It was the away outfit’s fifth of the season, meaning they have now picked up the joint-most of any team in League One this season.

Peterborough United and Lincoln City have also notched five reds each in 2024/25.

Wrexham, on the other hand, are one just two teams across the division yet to be shown a red card this term – Rotherham United being the other.
